wow thanks alot. i realy think this will help me understand forehand better.
Ill have to try it this way..A lot of people say you should have a tight
grip on it all the way thru
what’s your thumb position? I switched to this grip that you are showing
about 6 months ago (I used to throw with just one finger one), and I have a
hard time finding a good place for my thumb. so is it pointing towards the
middle of the disc, or do you have running along the rim? Thanks!
I have been using the control grip for a good two years. Like you, my
forehand is a HUGE part of my game, I tried using your grip and now I am
belting out extra feet per drive. Thanks!
What about for tomahawks? I never could barrel roll my tomahawks throwing
it with the pad of my finger on the rim(like I do forehand). Once i
switched to as you call it the control grip and instantly got good clean
release with a great barrel roll. You may be right for this, but for most I
think they will benefit from trying what’s comfortable first then when they
are consistent maybe trying other things(though that could screw it up too
:/ )
wow thanx that really helps!!! my fore flips almost every time when i use
more force but no longer thanx!
Well – keep working on the backhand. It’ll get you more power long-term
than a forehand – especially if you have a decently fit core. The forehand
is all arm, and I never recommend older players jumping into it. But if
you’re already using it – if you have ANY questions feel free to post them
and I’ll help in any way I can.
My thumb tends to point toward the center of the disc when I’m gripping it.
It’s also not dead flat down on the disc, the thumbnail is SLIGHTLY tilted
up toward the top of the hand so its almost pressing down with a 3/4 angle.
excellent and intelligently said.
thanks for the tips. I’m a 54 yr old newbie with a decent backhand but I
need more distance.
awesome vid. thanks.
That is one dirty disc!
when you talk about loose grip, how would you rate it on a scale of 1 (very
weak) to 10 (very strong).
That was really good. Thanks for the tips.
Haha Discraft Surge, I believe. Found in the bottom of a pond, belongs to a
friend… I really need to get it back to him.
@t3hsniper It may have something to do with the angle of release. Honestly
– I only use my tomahawks sparingly and haven’t tried it with any other
grips, its accurate and serviceable when I get in trouble. Just looking at
my hand with the two grips – I can tell that you may get a better release
angle for a nice tomahawk barrel roll with the control grip. I usually use
my tomahawk to just pancake out and slide up to the pin on the flight
plate, not going for barrel rolls. Thanks for the tip!
Thanks. My forehand SUCCCCCKS!
