Chris Davis says:

Ok, so this advice is the best advice I ever got as far as my driver goes,
but with the irons, it seems very wrong, unless I’m doing something wrong.
If I lean the iron above my knee, it forces me to stand way to far back
from the ball.?

Brian Rhie says:

Best advise in golf…….believe me. I played 30 years.
?

M Hyatt says:

Thanks so much.?

Patrick Kaa says:

I think my problem has been in the setup, I just realised that I was too
close to the ball, will implement this on my next round!!?

Allen Burdett says:

it has been suggested that you should grip the club while your arms are
hanging down over your toe line and your knees are slightly flexed. with
the club on the ground your tilt forward has automatically been adjusted
for the length of the club and the width of your stance (your hands are
then a fist distance from your thighs). what do you think ?. maybe you need
a little more room for the driver.?

sjerk35 says:

I understand this will feel pretty strange for most golfers.. I have the
same problem, it really feels like my hamstrings tighten when i bend over..
and then i have to bend over even further..

Funny thing is it really really helps your golfswing..

Right now i first do this trick.. to see where i have to stand, then I bow
down, and then i fall in to a stable position. Really works out for me.?

John Hagan says:

This assumes that the hands are in the same position for all clubs although
the right hand must be out further as the clubs get longer…
geometrically. Maybe the position of the right hand above the left foot is
important as it obviously changes with the club length in this method.?

spacefieldtime says:

a bit generic, that said, its great starting advice to start to understand
being consistent and thinking about your clubs and their lie and loft
angles and your body weight…..8 out of 10 for the advice….?

mallrat11 says:

this is great advice, but can’t be used for everyone given everyones legs
and torso are all different. I’m 5’7 as well and when i do it one inch
above the knee, my arms are so far outstretched I have a one plane swing
like mo norman.

FreeOnlineGolf says:

Great, I’m pleased you enjoyed? it.

FreeOnlineGolf says:

Give it a go, it’ll work a treat.

FreeOnlineGolf says:

That would indicate a sever lack of spine angle tilt. Try to lean over more
and stick your hips back. you’ll get it.

Jon NZ says:

Thanks. Very helpful.

FreeOnlineGolf says:

Are you sure you have thought this comment through? Exactly how wide are
intending to move your feet?

Ramiz Sarah says:

I’m 5.8 and this works great.. Just started golfing and my hits were either
landing too short (hitting the grass few inches behind the ball) or
completely missing the ball.. I went out on the range yesterday, and had 18
consecutive proper hits by following this technique.. Thanks for the tip :-)

NightMaN7400 says:

hmmmm thanks may try that might improve my game more lol

ATomb212 says:

This is absolutely correct and awesome advice. To sum it up and simplify
the whole thing into one phrase, I would say: Always make sure the but of
the club is placed directly over your toes!

FreeOnlineGolf says:

Glad it works for you Ryan

badgolfer997 says:

Works for tall people. Does not work for a person like me who 5’7″

FreeOnlineGolf says:

Great, I’m pleased you enjoyed? it.

FreeOnlineGolf says:

Yep you got it, all clubs the same.

FreeOnlineGolf says:

badgolfer997 why not? unless your clubs are are badly fitted this works
for? everybody even small junior players.

badgolfer997 says:

@pstyles48 My clubs have been cut fitted, and I doubled checked the length
on the chart. When I setup like the above video as I always do it still
sits higher than an inch or two above knee. Maybe I just have short legs
and longer torso.

Ryan Dorn says:

Great tip and perfectly correct. Thanks.

donnachiebro says:

great advice peter and very simply put cheers mate

Graham Dowdell says:

I have had alook at every Tour player available and this does not apply to
one of them,if anyone wants to correct me ,lead me to some pictures of
them.If I did this I would be so bent over that I could not swing a
club…?????

zumbaenklojo says:

This is retarded, seen that is depends on your stands. Cuz when you have
your feet further appart the club will land lower …….

Pete Styles says:

I would agree that some tour players don’t practice this tip (many do) but
they tend to be very aggressive and quick to clear their hips and legs in
the down swing, therefore creating more space for their hands coming into
impact. This drill works for thousands of golfers and done correctly should
have a positive impact on most peoples games. Pete

pstyles48 says:

@badgolfer997 i’m glad your clubs are well fitted for you, when you set up
the one inch position above the knee is designed to make sure you are
standing the correct distance from the ball, so it sounds like you are too
close currently, try moving further back until the club sits just above
your knee, it will feel like you are stretching at first but works, trust
me!!
