NEIL CLARKE says:

Thanks mark! For all your tips. As a high handicap player I used to attack
the ball from the top of the back swing, hence all the over the top traits.
A couple of your videos, and I can start to get my hips in the right place
at the time, and swing through the ball. Thanks mate! Neil.?

BenJogan says:

well I’m sorry, but the use of examples spacing between different sciences
and points of interest are always used by open minded people who are able
to find the hidden “correlations” scattered into this complex world.
“Imagination is more important than knowledge” (A. Einstein) – Joyce also
talked about “epiphanies”. Don’t stick rigidly to a few fixed concepts,
because what you consider as your own “world” in reality might be only a
small sparkle of sunlight… and please don’t be rude.

affirmationuk says:

hmmm way to miss the point!! I guess sarcasm doesn’t translate well in
type. Is it even possible to have a black belt in putting? lol The sarcy
comment was in response to the martial artist crap the other div was
harking on about – I can only assume your the sibling spawned by the
cousins from whose loins Nobbo also sprang forth from!

affirmationuk says:

I’m not providing a counter initiative because there is no need for one –
no one could keep up with the different directions your rambling is taking
anyhow! lol Presumably you can only get on here inbetween shifts at
McDonalds!?

affirmationuk says:

Aww thanks and well done, self awareness is the first step to change! Maybe
if you stop throwing shit you can become witty like me one day!

Jakob Baunsgaard says:

” at home. Thanks!!

Jesper Rodin Augustsson says:

finally i found it, thanks mark

affirmationuk says:

He didnt say Sergio drops the club – he said Sergio gave a great tip about
dropping the club as a thought ‘aid’ Everything else youve said in this and
your other comment is, respectfully, bollox! lol Does some one wish they
were a golf Pro?

affirmationuk says:

Yawn… Why do cretins feel the need to try and talk like they’re Einstein
(when they’re clearly not!) on these comments sections. Go back to stacking
shelves or jerking off to the back cover of Michael Bubles album!

TooneySonic says:

Sergio doesn’t ‘drop’ the club, he rotates his forearms clockwise to
shallow out his swingplane

TooneySonic says:

Jesus you put thought into those. Says it all. I’d get sucked in but its
pretty obvious from your character & lack of intelligence that lifes hit
you hard enough….”lol”

Super1Matt1 says:

Hey Mark. Been trying to figure out my over the top for over a year now. In
none of these things that you talk about. I’m an early extender too. But
what about dropping the arms done at the top of the back swing to get on
plane. Is that something to try or do?

paul conlon says:

Nice work Mark, great upload. And thanks for all you do free for the
golfing community free of charge. I’m not in the uk that often but the next
time I’m over I’m def going up for a lesson. Keep up the great work.

TooneySonic says:

There’s a difference between wit and throwing enough shit at a wall to see
if any of it sticks. If that gives you satisfaction, please yourself.

Iain M says:

Great tip in today’s golfer from sergio Garcia. Drop club at top of back
swing before any further movement and you get a lovely small draw.

dannyfr22 says:

cool video mate. really nicely explained… especially the second part of
it. cheers

TooneySonic says:

Hi Mark. From my experience 99% of OTT moves are the result of a lack of
ground pressures & connection to the ground. The swing is a battle of
forces vs pressure. If there is too much force OTT is the result. Think of
building a skyscraper, if there is no foundation (ground pressure) it’ll
collapse. The greater your ground pressures the more acceleration your
swing can deal with, and the taller you can build that skyscraper! All the
best, great to see someone helping golfers for free :)

affirmationuk says:

hahahahaha more bollox Im a black belt in putting!

puls66 says:

hi mark, what if your “coming over the top” but the clubface is closed or
neutral to the path? it would be a pull, right (for right-handed golfers)!?
in that case the release would be fine, you just have to correct the path
by coming from the inside by doing the second part of the fix, or droping
the club like lain m said!? regards p.

AskGolfGuru says:

thanks for watching

BenJogan says:

That answer is not relevant and a bit pathetic… if being incredibly good
at putting is all the necessary for becoming a great player, than today’s
golf has just become a dull game (and unfortunately… maybe it is)

affirmationuk says:

not skipping a debate – there is no debate – what you say is irrellevant,
just another sadwit using the anomonity of t’internet to seek some selth
worth by purporting to be of authority. So far weve had expert amateur
golfer, indication of some knowledge of martial arts and now the physics
involved in high end cars!! lol youve just compared an oversteering car to
someone swinging over the top!!! lmao You are a beautiful example of why
cousins shouldn’t breed!

Super1Matt1 says:

Dropping down**

SuperMozzman says:

Hi Mark Interesting video – I have a history of over-the-top nastiness
resulting in throwing the club out during the downswing and an out-to-in
swingpath. What really has helped me is stopping swinging down with my arms
and turning my body instead – pulling my arms down and keeping the club on
the right path. I had my best session at the range for a long time
yesterday by keeping this single swing thought in my head – anyway – thats
what seems to work for me. Keep the good stuff coming John

TooneySonic says:

Please explain to me how its bollocks? Every pro on tour initiate’s
transition by applying pressure into the ground. Any martial artist will
tell you the same. You need to be rooted into the ground in order for an
affective transferrence of power. power comes from the ground up. To answer
you question, I’m not a pro, but I play off +1. I’ve earned this knowledge.
All the best

TooneySonic says:

I’ll leave you with one last thought. Set up to the ball and on your
backswing (assuming you are a right hander) try to turn your right foot
clockwise away from the target. Really try to churn up the ground beneath
you. Try it barefoot or with shoes on, you’re foot shouldn’t move. Its the
intention. You’ll notice a massive amount of torque all up your leg and
coil throughout the body. try to overswing, its near impossible. You are
rooted, and your ground forces are resisting any more turning.

TooneySonic says:

haha touche. nice reversal. first time you’ve actually made me laugh.
perhaps there is hope for you after all

affirmationuk says:

OMG you cannot comment on intelligence with no ability to recognise when
someone is being facetious and the total shite you’ve been spouting – two
fish reeled in and counting!! lol

David Malfara says:

Mark, great video as always. I have a question about alignment. I can’t
seem to get my club face set up square to the target line at address. I
always seem to set up with my shoulders and hips squared up but the the
club face closed (even though it feels square to me). Any tips on how to
fight this perception that square “seems” open?

affirmationuk says:

I’ve not been saying anything all along except that you clearly do not know
what you are talking about! lol They are not petty – they are thought
through, nob jockey! lol

TooneySonic says:

Hmmm, skipping a debate are we because you are ignorant to the true
workings of the swing? I’ll put it in car terms for you. Take a C63 AMG. It
can only transfer as much power to the road as its tyres will allow. Too
much torque and it’ll wheelspin. In a turn it’ll oversteer. An oversteering
car will always arc out thanks to centrifugal force… OTT. Put some slicks
on it and you raise the grip, thus the tyres can handle a greater loading.
Anchor the swing right from set-up, trust me

TooneySonic says:

So you’re saying a golf ball and golfers swing has its own set of physics
laws independent from the rest of the universe? Sorted ground pressures =
sorted pivot. A good pivot frees up the room for your arms to swing on the
proper path. You just can’t swing OTT with a good pivot. And that starts
with ground pressures & footwork. Can’t put it any simpler. Its all linked,
a snowball effect. I give up on this now because I don’t have time for
someone who only wishes to throw around petty insults.

sidecar771 says:

Over the top and lateral sliding….resolutions 2013…Urrrgghhh!

chrispkreme says:

Thanks for answering my question Mark, I like the 2nd drill with the hips a
lot and it has been a focus of mine as of late. As far as understanding
face to path, I have a pretty good understanding of what you are saying
there, but putting it into practice is something else. Anyways, I will try
the drills as suggested. cheers! -Chris

Jakob Baunsgaard says:

Hi Mark. Thanks for bringing up my quostion. What you say about club head
and path makes sence. Great drills – I will take it to the range, and yes,
I can even practice “the hip drill

AskGolfGuru says:

the only problem that I see day to day is that golfers can not drop the
club at the top due to poor body turns and body side bends. The problem is
a lot deeper for many golfers.

TooneySonic says:

Wow what a pleasent person you must be. resulting to personal insults from
the safety of a keyboard because you cannot provide a counter initiative.
Its basic physics, the laws of the universe. You cannot apply force without
some form of resistance. A golfer uses the ground, a car can only
accelerate as hard as its tyres can grip, building can only go as high as
the foundation can support. Your swing will have no concept of ground
pressures otherwise you’d get why a more anchored swing can cope
