It clears up NOTHING. Just watch the Masters or any pro game. Of course
there is continual, smooth, flowing motion and rhythm that can take years
to perfect, but the obvious mechanical reason for keeping your head still
is because the only way it can easily lift (or dip) is if the shoulders
move and that lifts (or lowers) the club a few millimeters. Everything
crucial in this game happens at the instant of impact, and if that instant
is not perfect, the ball goes screwy. If you can wave your head around and
keep the face of the club in exactly the same place and vertical
displacement from the ground every time, then you are plastic man, but go
for it. Otherwise, I think doing what every other pro does, keeping their
head fixed as best they can while the body rotates beneath it “till impact”
is absolutely the correct way to think about it. I have taken at least 10
swings off my game just by forcing my head to hold in place for the few
milliseconds that pass while the club face is reaching and striking the
ball. I think the advice in this video is misleading, definitely picking at
a nit (that some pro’s hold their heads in different positions), and
missing the point that the only thing that ultimately matters is the exact
geometric and dynamic relationship between the face of the club and the
ball at impact. Move your head before impact, that relationship will be
different every time and you will hit poorly. ?
This video is really so interesting and to an extent demolishes the
constant refrain of “keep your head still”
I have just started playing golf @ 68+, so these tips and those on your
other videos are tops.
Many thanks

India?
Thanks for the tip on keeping your head down when playing golf. I
certainly hope it works for me.?
Great video. Makes complete sense. In my head now it’s really about being
confident and swinging through the ball. When I focus really hard on
keeping my head still I forget all the other bits and create divot of the
day. Cheers.?
Tiger is indeed very good at keeping his head down; especially when his
wife has just wrapped a club around his neck :-D?
Thanks for your comment and feedback. We are doing a new intro so will take
that on board. Thanks
Very good !
Upper body
Great video, my problem is not keeping head down but staying back behind
the ball. I have a tendency to lunge a bit. Any ideas??
Awesome video and explanation! I remember in an email you sent me that that
was gonna cause me problems! I never saw my club face impact the golf ball
and I thought I was wrong but man I’m glad it was a normal reaction! Thanks
guys your drills have made me a better Baller! When I go over seas maybe we
can compete in a tourney!!! Meandmygolf all the way!!!
If you actually watch and listen to the video, we agree with what you are
saying. You don’t need to think about keeping your head down.
Hey guys, just a small suggestion. Can you level the intro logo’s sound
with your recorded sound? Thanks a lot! Excellent video as always! Keep it
up.
Hey guys, great video, my main problem when i play golf is that i push a
lot of my balls to the right. The ball goes straight but it goes thirty
yards to the right. Im not having a problem with a slice and i am also
lined up correctly. Any response would be great. Thanks!!!!
Obviously “sleepygolferlaurent” has never observed high handicap golfers on
a muni course!!!! Also, a counterpoint, a forward lunge with the upper body
definitely results in “lifting” or “head coming up” in the downswing as the
body tries to compensate and sync up to make decent contact….thanks again
guys for the Great tip/video…keep up the good work…you guys are a Great
source of info and knowledge
worst tip ever. no one picks there head up. its falling back in the swing
that causes this so called picking your head up
Does your upper body move towards the target too much or your lower body?
