Excellent analysis. Two things I would add is that it’s very difficult to
create lag with that much wrist arch (or bow). I used to have a lot of left
wrist arch, but couldn’t get much hinge/lag because my wrists are not as
flexible as Johnson’s. I doubt few are. Also, bowing the left wrist also
tends to result in getting laid off, but Johnson manages to keep on plane.
If you can do it, awesome.

I would like to add one thing. The reason that he can hit the straight ball
and the fade with that extremely closed face is because of his fast hips.
He is able to square up his club face because his hips are way out in front
of his club face. The faster he turns his hips the more square or open his
club face is. I actually have a slightly closed club face and I turn my
hips a little faster to get a square club face.

My swing and stance is almost exactyly like this guys. I hit my 7 iron over
200 yards too. I have a wide stance like his also. I deloft my clubs too
naturally, I don’t even know how to deloft a club haha
